I assume you are talking about webmail through your browser like aol email or gmail etc. I actually use yahoo email so I cant speak for other email services but there are 3 things you should try doing.
1) Wait 15 to 30 minutes and try again. Its not unusual for an email service to either be doing some type of upgrade or having some temporary problem they are fixing. So just give it a little time and try again. I've had this happen with yahoo email more then once, and it was working later when I tried it. So just give it some time and try accessing it again.
2) Try accessing your email with a different browser. Maybe its just a browser issue where an upgrade had a problem etc. Its actually good anyways to install a 2nd browser on computer so you always have it. I have both Firefox and Chrome installed (and Microsoft edge of course comes on it already if using windows, or Apple Safari already on it if using a Mac). Open the other browser and try accessing your email, the URL for web email is almost always following the pattern mail.yahoo.com or mail.aol.com or mail.protonmail.com etc
3) If all else fails, reboot your computer. This resets everything in case you had sometype of temporary issue that occurred with system, always worth a try to do this.
