Asked by Anonymous - Hip pain sleeping:
I started getting alot of pain in my hip only on one side of hip while sleeping which hasnt happened before, and it doesnt matter what position whether laying on back or laying on side, it hurt for hours. Not only did I not sleep for the past 3 hours but this morning was painfull just walking around the house. I didnt really notice anything before going to bed other then a little discomfort from using treadmill earlier in the day, but it was 100 times worse sleeping then it was during the day walking around. Not sure what I did.

Treadmills are notorious for creating injuries because it makes unnatural walking motions, either people hold the rail or walking slow which actually can create unnatural form doing that.

Do you have one of those padded recliners that angles all the way back? Sleep in that for a night as that creates a comfortable position and holds you in that position where you arent moving applying pressure on the hip joint, and your hip joint may not hurt at all when in that position, and a night of sleep pain free where you arent continuing to aggravate it all night will help.

Are you taking statins? There are alot of people having hip, knee, calf, shoulder etc issues from the side effects of statins. Its almost like it inflames or irritates the joints.

Strengthen your legs (walking daily or leg weights or strengthening etc). If your leg muscles are weak the pressure all shifts on to your knees and ankles and hips and suddenly they will start acting up. There are some basic exercises you can do at home, leg raises, clamshell raises, etc to strengthen quads and hip muscles.
