Asked by Anonymous - My results using fluorouracil tolak skin cream: My dematologisthad had me doing face treatment for 2 weeks, doing it twice a day. I washed face before doing so as it says to do this, just lightly but it felt miserable and looked terrible.  Red, peeling, scabbing in some areas.  You dont want to be seen thats for sure.  I went back to dermatologist and he said thats fine as this is susposed to happen.  The scabbing seems to be disappearing now that I have been done for a few days.  I dont think I will look normal for weeks and I'm hoping it gets normal as its worse then expected.  The doctor did tell me I will be glad when its all over but for now I just stay inside.

Anonymous Says: Dont worry it will get better!  Here is what my results were like, I'm all done with it.   It just doesn't look that way now but will look better each day when you are done!  I used it for a month on a few spots on face that were AK's.  One thing most dont realize, is lets say you put it on a spot the size of a dime, it will expand out beyond that around 2 weeks in maybe to nickel size or larger.  A few small sections on mine (for example 1/2 dime or smaller) turned into scabs, but I think those were the sure AK areas.  I actually had several spots on my face I needed to apply this, but I started with just 1 so it wouldnt be all at once.  I probably had 2 small scab areas that appeared and it started about 2 weeks in and the other area around it just kind of peeled but no scab, then I just applied tolak around that (makes no sense putting it on scab) and washed my face very lightly.  The shower kind of washed off the scab but when dried over it scabbed again.  Finally I stopped just under 4 weeks and I did miss several days in between all that time.   The good thing is that in about 5 days after its done, you will see alot of the red go away!  The scabbing and peeling will all be gone and it almost be like new skin under it.  You cant even tell on mine anymore that it was ever there.  I probably had those AK's there for a decade because it was all red and scaly, now I'm glad I used the tolak on it because its officially gone now.  Hang in there it will get better.

Anonymous Says: The other thing is I'm guessing it expands out beyond that because it attacks certain cells only, so if its expanding large it probably means you had bad cells out around it more then you could see.  If you are doing it on 2 spots at same time a half inch apart, most likely they will connect and become one big red area. For me the first 1.5 weeks:  Turns red and expands 1.5 to 2.5 weeks: Scabs and peeling 3 to 4 weeks: Scabs going away but peeling still occuring and minor tiny scabs. After stopping: First week gets alot better, 2nd week really improves and red disappears rapidly.
