I was told to drain my battery all the way down to 0 percent before recharging? Should I let the battery run out first

Iphones use lithium ion battery, you do NOT need to drain them down before recharging again.

I keep hearing that rumor and even the apple site says that their batteries are not required to be used all the way before charging again and it will not damage the battery. It doesnt matter if its 50%, you can charge at 50% or 5% and it wont affect battery life long term
