Posted by Guest - Is Fbi Popup Window A Scam? :
I got a popup on my iphone and it said something like I had to pay $500 today or I could be arrested. I quickly closed it but it said FBI and child porn or something is it a scam? I wasnt doing anything just browsing some websites.

I'm also afraid there is now some virus on my iphone and how do I get rid of that can I get real answers on this?

Thats a common scam, no worries. Its also not on your iphone, iphones are really secure and although other phones can get these viruses installed on them, what you seen is just a webpage trying to fool you. Most of those scams say must pay now, try to scare you, and sometimes say fake things like your apple ID is locked.
Dont worry, its all just a bunch of fake stuff :) You can just close it, clear your cache on your browser so it doesn't popup again and you are good to go.

This same FBI scam occurred on computers with windows. Thats where it started, but the scam usually installed as a virus on the computer which is different because on iphones its nothing more then just a webpage popup trying to scare and fool you into paying. Its not on your phone.
Never EVER pay someone for scams like this.

There are many variations of this saying you are viewing illegal content and trying to scare you into paying

Most of these malware things originate in china or russia.

For some reason this fbi warning about child porn has been coming up alot lately, everyone knows its a scam but they try to get you to pay $500 through paypal so some stupid people must be falling for it or the popups wouldnt be so common now.

I just got this popup and all I can think is does anyone actually fall for these stupid scams?

If on android make sure that fbi virus did not actually install ON your phone. Thats a much bigger problem if so. If on iphone then its just a webpage because they dont get viruses, but android you can get the virus on it so make sure that hasnt happened.

be aware there are different variations of this, its not just fbi virus and violations etc, but there are other similiar scare tactics saying u.s. or states etc

Its ransomware, if using android beware, but it only affects android users because it can get on the phone and access the camera

Users of the Adult Player Android app are in for a shock, it has emerged that the Android app has been secretly taking photos of users - and wants their cash in exchange for deletion.

On iph one its webpage only so just close Safari by double-tapping the home button, then swipe up the app to close it. If it keeps showing when you open Safari, then close Safari again and clear your web history/cache, then it will be gone. Its easy to get rid of on iphone because its not a virus actually on your phone.

The poster above is correct, if you are using android that is a bad virus because there are multiple porn apps that are secretly taking pictures with your front facing camera. They then ask for ransom payments to keep your pictures off the internet, and because they are transmitted overseas (probably china) you cant do anything about it. Thats only on android though but not taking security seriously can be a big mistake.

On iphone these are just scam websites, they say anything from you have a virus, to you will get arrested, to anything else to try to scam and scare you into paying money. You wont get a virus on an iphone so these are just websites trying to scam and trick you. You can ignore them.

I had heard of someone getting this pop up on there iPhone and he wasn't sure exactly what it said but got freaked out. Said he was looking at mature porn and went to click on the video and to pages popped up with a page over the two from Fbi . Said something along the lines of child porn and zoophillia which he was not looking at . What should he do , he was able to get out of the pages .

You dont have to do anything, just double tap the home button and swipe the button up to close the safari browser as thats just a webpage you see. Then clear your cache afterwards and dont go back to those silly wepsites again.

Those websites are full of scam popups whether it says FBI or a handfull of other scare tactics and they try to make them look like they are on your phone. Maybe I should stick with the myfreecams.com site at least thats a clean site that doesnt have all the popups there :)
Dont EVER pay those scammers on any popups! The reason they continue doing it is because people are dumb enough to fall for it!
