I need to recreate tape file gen.(+0) to gen.(+1) which should have 54 bytes at the end filled by spaces. The gen (0) has LRECL=2623 and gen (+1) should have LRECL=2677. How to use sort statements for it? Sort fields = copy and then OUTREC FIELDS or OVERLAY? Please advise. Thank you. T.

Simple, just use outrec in your sort when writing the output file.

Then do something like:
480:23X

Which means in position 480 add 23 spaces.
