File Status Error Code 96

opening a file with my cobol program and im getting file open error 96: *** ERROR OPENING OUTPUT FILE. STATUS IS 96 CEE3250C The system or user abend U4000 R=NULL was issued. From compile unit COBCOBA at entry point COBCOBA at compile u at address 24B565DE.

Check your file control section in the cobol and make sure it matches the JCL file name. If they do not match, then thats your error.

thx thats exactly what it was, the file status 96 was because the jcl called the proc, but the proc file name used wasn't what hte cobol code had in it.
